“You Are Not Maharashtra”: Kangana Ranaut’s Message To Sanjay Raut
Are the colors of Maharashtra’s government being revealed and is the voice of women still being suppressed?”
In an explosive video posted by Kangana Ranaut, she takes down Shiv Sena’s Sanjay Raut. She reminds him that he is not Maharashtra and has no right to ask for an apology.
In the video posted on September 6th, Kangana had blatantly called Sanjay Raut’s mindset “anti-women’. She also questioned his abusive remarks made in direction to her even though many actors like Aamir Khan and Naseeruddin Shah said that they were scared of living in Mumbai.
This all stemmed from her openness regarding the Sushant Singh Rajput case, where Kangana had said explosive facts regarding the state of the Indian entertainment industry. She also blamed the state of Maharashtra and expressed her deep concerns about the Mumbai Police and her safety considering the current state of law and order. Kangana has always been a supporter of the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. After sharply criticizing the Mumbai Police and how they’ve handled Sushant Singh Rajputs case, Kangana is in the middle of a new challenge.
This series of comments is what sparked this statement from Sanjay Raut. Where he has blatantly said, “If that girl (Kangana Ranaut) will apologize to Maharashtra, then I will think about it (of apologizing). She calls Mumbai a mini Pakistan.” While also adding “Does she have the courage to say the same about Ahmedabad?”, quoted by news agency ANI.
Taking on the Rajya Sabha MP that threatened her, Kangana tweeted “Why is Mumbai feeling like Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir”, the tweet that infuriated the Sena.
Sena MLA Pratap Saranik has commented on her tweet saying “If she comes here then our brave women will not leave without slapping her”.
Kangana Ranaut in a final comeback said “You (Sanjay Raut) have empowered the people who commit crimes against women. The daughters of this country will never forgive you”.
After the Shiv Sena had lost the Sushant Singh Rajput case to the CBI, Mr. Raut responded saying “We kindly request her not to come to Mumbai. This is nothing but an insult to the Mumbai Police. The Home Minister should take action over it”. Now, she has openly declared that she will be coming back to Mumbai on the 9th of September and will let the media know of her location.
Kangana has also given the Maharashtra government a cut-throat reply saying “Your people are saying they will break my jaw, kill me, Then do it. This country’s soil is rich with the blood of many who sacrificed for the pride and dignity of the country. We will also give our blood, we also have to repay our debts,”
This also reflects on the current situation of women in the state of Maharashtra and how voices are always suppressed. Even with laws meant to protect women especially in Maharashtra, like the night-life policy and cyber safety, the state still manages to be one of the most unsafe for women, standing second in crimes against women across the country.
As of March 6th, 2020, Maharashtra had 37,500 cases of crime against women, which was up by 17% and higher for the last two years. In light of the situation with Kangana Ranaut, Maharashtra’s Shiv Sena is fumed and spoke outrageously against Kangana Ranaut showing a side of the government that should not be seen.
With laws that claim freedom of speech, these comments by the Shiv Sena have sparked outrage. As women on the streets defame and belittle Kangana, the colours of the states are truly being revealed. With increased realization among the public of the situation in Maharashtra, and with the women unsure about their safety, the government needs to pull up their socks and gain the trust of many.
