What is TRP, what is its role in ranking the TV channel to number one..?
The Television Rating Point (TRP) has become a topic of discussion following the sensational revelations by Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh. At a press conference held in Mumbai on Thursday, Parambir Singh said that Mumbai Crime Branch has revealed a new racket. The name of this racket is ‘Falls TRP racket’. Mumbai Police are now investigating a scam involving TRP manipulation. Let us know what is TRP and its role in making a channel number one…
What is the TRP of a TV channel..?
The television rating point, or TRP, is a tool that is used to know which program or TV channel is viewed most on the cable networks. Also, it helps in understanding the popularity of any program or channel, that is, how often, and how long people are watching a channel or program. Having the highest TRP of the program means that most viewers are watching that program on most of the occasions.
TRP data is very useful for advertisers, as advertisers choose to advertise only those programs which have higher TRPs. Explain that to measure TRP, ‘People Meter’ is installed in some places. It can be understood that a few thousand viewers are surveyed in the form of justice and samples, and based on these audiences, all the viewers are considered. These People Meters determine which programs or channels are being viewed by a specific frequency…
How the TRP of a program or channel is measured..?
to measure the TRP of any program People Meter is used. Through this meter, every minute of TV information is passed on to the Monitoring Team, which is known as the Indian Television Audience Measurement (INTAM). After analyzing the information from the People Meter, this team then decides which channel or program has the most TRP. To calculate this, the program and time that a viewer regularly watches are continuously recorded and then the average record of the program is extracted by multiplying this data by 30. This People Meter extracts complete information about any channel and its program.
What is the effect of TRP..?
The increase or decrease of TRP directly affects the income of the TV channel on which the program is coming. All the TV channels like Sony, Star Plus, Zee Channel, etc. all make money through advertising. If the TRP of a program or channel is low, it means that the audience is watching it less. That means that the program will not get much advertising money or very few advertisers. But if the TRP of any channel or program is high, then it will get more advertisements and, the advertisers will also get more money.
TRP depends not only on the channel but also on any of the one program. For example, if the TRP of a new and trendy program is higher than any other program, advertisers will want to show their advertisement in that program and, for that, will pay more.
What is the TRP rating..?
The TRP rating is the rating on which a TV channel’s TRP is calculated. The TRP of any channel or program depends on the program shown on it. It can be understood that when a film star comes to a program for the promotion of his film, then the TRP of that program increases because people wish to watch that movie actor/actress more and more.
