Kangana Ranaut to be provided Y+ category security
Bollywood Actress Kangana Ranaut was recently given Y+ category security by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). This was the result of an online – verbal conflict between her and Shiv Sena leader, Sanjay Raut.
Under the Y+ category, the actress will be given 11 security personnel, out of which two will be armed for mobile security and one to guard her residence. She will also receive additional security at night.
A Home Ministry official said that intelligence agencies had made an assessment that concluded threats to Ranaut’s life and accordingly, security provision has been made.
The actress who is currently in Manali, Himachal Pradesh plans to visit Mumbai on 9 September.
Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Jai Ram Thakur called the actress a “daughter” of the state and said that they had requested paramilitary force as security for the actress. The state police have been administered to guard her Manali residence.
Maharashtra’s Vijay Wadettiwar accused Ranaut of being BJP’s “parrot” and called the Centre’s move “politically motivated.”
The controversy began when Kangana Ranaut claimed that 99% of Bollywood engages in the usage of drugs. This was in reference to the aftermath of actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. Maharashtra Home Minister replied by saying that actor and ex-boyfriend Adhyayan Suman made certain statements saying that Kangana Ranaut used to take drugs. This has led to a further investigation of the matter by the Mumbai Police.
She had also questioned the performance of the Maharashtra administration during the investigation into the death of Sushant Singh Rajput. Raut said that she should not go back to Mumbai if she was afraid of the city police to which the actress replied, “Why is Mumbai feeling like Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir?”
While addressing the Assembly, CM Uddhav Thackeray said “Some people have gratitude towards the city where they live and earn their livelihood, but some don’t.”
Ranaut clapped back by accusing Raut of a mindset that was responsible for assaults on women across the country.
Former Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis said that even though BJP disliked the comment comparing Mumbai to PoK, it was the government’s responsibility to protect her.
